Community Investment Network – Inspiring People to Give by Design

CIN is a national network of giving circles. A giving circle is a group who pool their personal time, talents, and treasure to address social issues in their communities using thoughtful giving strategies. The activities of a giving circle include grant making, advocacy and public education as complementary ways to demystify philanthropy by making it accessible and more democratic to everyday people.

CIN provide workshops and educational services about charitable giving, donor advised funds, life insurance premiums, and other forms of planned giving to philanthropists of color. Additionally, we bridge grassroots philanthropy and institutional philanthropy by educating CIN members on how to connect with endowed foundations, churches, and other vehicles for people to give collectively when values and giving priorities align.

The Triangle Community Foundation

TCF offers many different ways for you to give, get involved, and make a difference in our community.  We have the flexibility to help you support causes that you care about, the local expertise to help you give strategically, and we can provide you the opportunity to invest with us for a greater impact. Our donors are a diverse group of passionate individuals who make up the Foundation family and are dedicated to changing the landscape of our region for the better.  Each of them has a unique story, vision or goal, but they all have one thing in common.  They believe in the power of community giving. And we do too.

What They Do

They are partners for donors. Why?  Because working with individuals and families will help connect them with critical causes to make a greater impact now, and to create a legacy for the future.

They are funders of nonprofits. Why?  Because we are committed to building stronger, more impactful organizations in our region that have the capacity to affect the change they so passionately seek.

They are a resource for local issues. Why?  Because we need to work together to bring about change. We are poised to gather leaders and research with the goal of an informed, educated, active, and inspired community.

Supporting an organization either financially or with your time and expertise is an investment. And, as with any investment, you want to be sure that the organizations you support are trustworthy and effective. Nonprofits with these five qualities are positioned to be most successful in addressing the problems they are trying to solve or helping the people they are trying to help.

  1. The nonprofit has a clear mission and purpose
  2. Strong practices, procedures, and policies guide the nonprofit’s operations.
  3. It’s staffed and managed by good people
  4. The nonprofit has the ability to mobilize others
  5. There is a culture of learning
